Cellulose Cellulose is an organic compound, a polysaccharide consisting of a linear chain of several hundred to over ten thousand monomers of glucose, made by all plants.

Uses and Profitability Can be used to make paper, wood, cotton, hemp rope, film, explosives, spray insulation, produce, and plastics. It’s cheap because cellulose is naturally occurring in the environment. Pros

They are used to make explosives, and plastics that can be harmful to people and the environment. Are we destroying the environment by harvesting cellulose? Cons

Properties of Cellulose Cellulose is not soluble in water. It exhibits marked properties of absorption.

Toxic? Hazardous? Recyclable? Cellulose can be hazardous and/or toxic when synthesised with other compounds, such as spray insulation. Paper, plastics, plants, and clothes are all recyclable and biodegradable products made of cellulose. Con Pro
