Project Financial Appraisal & Costing Tool Project Financial Appraisal & Costing Tool Developed by Baum Hart/Allocate for Universities within the UK Used by the Cambridge to capture the FULL cost of any given project Applies appropriate and consistent costing assumptions Can you use a pFACT? Must have a CRS ID Must receive authorisation from the Departmental Administrator

16 Funding schemes for early career researchers: ESRC ESRC Research Fellowships ESRC Research Fellowships  Social Sciences (may be priority themes)  Research linked to the PhD  Mentor support (not the PhD supervisor)  Not more than 3 years of active research experience; no age limit  Fellow’s salary and additional funding for 1 year (full time) or up to 2 years (part time)  No set deadline; decision within 14 weeks ESRC Small Research Grants ESRC Small Research Grants  Basic, strategic and applied research in any research area within ESRC’s remit  Applicants are eligible for funding whether or not they are established members of a recognised RO; those who are not established members must be accommodated by the RO  From £15,000.00 to £100,000.00  No set deadline; decision within 14 weeks www.esrc.ac.uk

18 Funding schemes for early career researchers: AHRC AHRC Fellowships AHRC Fellowships  Arts and Humanities  To take forward new avenues of research developed since completion of PhD, or to pursue new research directions that have evolved from PhD research  Applicants must be within 8 years of the award of PhD, or within 6 years of the first academic appointment  Salary and associated costs for up to £120,000 FEC for 3 to 9 months; contribution to the cost of mentoring  No deadlines; assessment in about 30 weeks www.ahrc.ac.uk
