Inclusion in Middle Schools By: Donny Duran

What is Inclusion? Inclusion is when you take a student that has special needs and put them in a general education setting.

Pros of Inclusion Allows the student to still recieve minimal services while still getting appropriate grade level instruction.

Cons of Inclusion Child does not receive attention necessary to succeed. May be too challenging for the student and the teacher. May disrupt other students education.

When is Inclusion Necessary? When a child shows progression in special needs classroom they may be moved to regular ed unofficially. When the child is not getting the most from his education in his special needs class. ( it is holding him back) To avoid labeling.

Personal Thoughts Inclusion is necessary in certain classroom settings, but this decision should only be made by people qualified to do so, such as a special education team.
