1 ISAExpo2003 23 October 2003: Houston, TX AD Session: ISA03-P247 - Tutorial: AD Session: ISA03-P247 - Tutorial: NeSSI ™ - Evolution of a New Process Analytics Paradigm (NeSSI = New Sampling/Sensor Initiative) “the best way to predict the future is to create it” ISAExpo2003 Houston, Texas, USA October 23, 2003 Session Developer: Jim Tatera

2 ISAExpo2003 23 October 2003: Houston, TX The NeSSI Initiative is characterized by a 5 - 7 yr roadmap in terms of developing Generation I components (SP76.02 compliant), Generation II (smart and NeSSI bus connected), and Generation III (a platform for integrating a new generation of Micro-analytical Sensors). A Gen I/II/III status and progress report will be presented. The concepts of NeSSI as a sampling/connectivity platform, its extension to by-line NeSSI Application Clusters (NACs), and its linkage to the Connectivity Initiative (ConnI) will be discussed. This tutorial should be of particular interest to system integrators, vendors developing miniaturized analytical sensors, and end-users interested in reducing process analyzer life-cycle costs. The NeSSI Initiative is characterized by a 5 - 7 yr roadmap in terms of developing Generation I components (SP76.02 compliant), Generation II (smart and NeSSI bus connected), and Generation III (a platform for integrating a new generation of Micro-analytical Sensors).
