What is a Poster? A large document that communicates your research at a scientific meeting Abstract, Short title, Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, References, Acknowledgement $ A person could fully read in under 10 minutes!

Personal Interaction Can reach people who might not be in your specific area Network/Connections Can be viewed when you are not there Audience can go at their own pace Less stressful than talk Why a Poster and not a Talk? FEEDBACK!!!!

Use headings to help readers find key sections Balance the placement of text and graphics Use white space creatively to grab viewers’ attention Follow the normal flow of reading: top to bottom and left to right Use column format to make poster easier to read in a crowd Set Up

Photos, figures and tables Should be clear, self explanatory, uncomplicated, and of sufficient size Tables and figures must have titles Figures must include legends Use good color contrast in figures

Poster's Background - Color Importance!!!! The choice of a background color is up to you…..However…. Softer colors (pastels & greys) may work best as a background - they are easiest to view for hours at a time, and offer the best contrast for text, graphic, and photographic elements
