2 Why Develop a Calculator? With iterative problems calculations become time consuming. Using the appropriate Nu number and calculating ħ is often a place for confusion and error. In engineering using calculators improves repeatability and accuracy.

3 Values are entered from Thermo-physical Properties Calculator and ħ is output in yellow.

4 Sheet will calculate the appropriate ħ for Internal flow and shows the equations used.

5 The sheet will also deal with External flow for either a cylinder or a sphere.

6 Validation The calculator was verified using homework problems and was even successful in finding some calculation errors in our homework.

7 Homework Problem 8.23a Engine Oil: Cp=1907, k=145.9e-3, Pr=978.4, mu=6.6825e-2, mdot=.5, D=.025, L=5 Calculation with spreadsheet: Re=381, Nubar=21.31, hbar=124 These were all confirmed to be correct, and saved time compared to the hand calculations.
