4 How We Provide Information Information Specialists answer questions by telephone, TTY, instant messaging and e-mail –1-800-4-CANCER (1-800-422-6237) –TTY: 1-800-332-8615 for hearing impaired –Smoking cessation 1-877-44U-QUIT (1-877- 448-7848) The Partnership Program reaches those who may have limited access to health information. The Research Program helps researchers advance health communication practices.

9 Idaho Activities Coeur d’Alene Tribe: T.A. in planning Men’s Wellness Event (06/2006) Nez Perce: Provided cancer overview presentation for community members (08/2006)

10 Oregon Activities Native American Rehabilitation Association, Inc. (NARA): Partnered with NARA to deliver breast and cervical cancer education at Women of Wellness Event in Warm Springs (08/2006)

11 Washington Activities Nooksack: T.A. to help tribe write grant and then plan and implement mobile mammography screening event. (9/2006) Seattle Indian Health Board: T.A. to help Urban Indian Tobacco Program Coalition evaluate their work. (Ongoing)

12 Evaluation of Cancer 101 Goal: Describe the impact of Cancer 101 among Northwest urban and rural tribal community members that participate in training opportunities.

13 Evaluation of Cancer 101 (cont’d) Collaborative effort – CIS-NW, Spirit of EAGLES, and NW Portland Area Indian Health Board NPCC has provided technical support Two year study – goal of 100 participants Five Train-the-Trainer Sessions –February 2006 – Hosted by Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe –April/May 2006 – Hosted by Coeur d’Alene Tribe –March 2007 – Hosted by Colville Tribes’ Tribal Health Program –May 2007 (tentative) – Hosted by Siletz & Lummi Tribes
