7 The 6th Framework Programme  FP6 (2002-2006) is the main instrument of the EC to implement the European Research Area (ERA), a new approach for European and international collaboration.  Implementation mainly through new instruments: Integrated Projects (IP) and Networks of Excellence (NoE).  The FP6 is open to partners around the world.
