7 Credit System The Finnish credit system complies with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) so that the Finnish credits are equivalent to the ECTS credits. Higher education studies are measured in credits (cr). Courses and study modules are credited according to the amount of work they require to attain the required objectives. A student’s average study effort of 1,600 hours required for the completion of studies during one academic year corresponds to 60 credits.

9 Assessment Event -the assessment event is a supervised event -be prepared to prove your indentity -the equipment and material to be used are determined by the supervisor -N.B! Students that have enrolled for the assessment event and fail to turn up, will be considered to have attended the event. -a student has the right to attempt to improve a failed grade twice and a passed grade once during the following two terms. -no cheating allowed, one can be punished for cheating

10 Bachelor’s Thesis -15 cr. -requires a written maturity test -Bachelor’s theses are public -for more detailed instructions, please contact your school

11 Higher Education Libraries – Libraries at Oulu University of Applied Sciences 8 libraries in the schools of Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oulu, Raahe, Oulainen) borrowing without a library card is not possible in most library units the library card is free of charge if you are a member of the Student Union you do not need a separate library card, the student card is valid as a library card – Oulu University Libraries, Main library in Linnanmaa campus Customers are given a library card when they first borrow materials from any of the university libraries.
