Course activities, assignments, norms and expectations Course purpose: Increase knowledge of managing a business that does business internationally. Increase skills in analyzing international forces that can have an impact on business. Increase awareness of cultural diversity and skills needed in managing cross-culturally.

Class Participation – What counts? 0 = Absent 1 = Doesn’t contribute much, even when called on 2 = Does not often offer to contribute to discussion, but contributes to a moderate degree 3 = Contributes well to discussion in an ongoing way 4 = Contributes in a very significant way to ongoing discussion

What is globalization? Is globalization beneficial or detrimental?

In threes, in 5 minutes… Write a definition of globalization. Put your names on the sheet of paper.

In same groups of threes,…… Revisit your definition of globalization. Would you change anything? If so, do so.

In groups of three discuss three questions from the video (20 minutes): What effects has globalization had on India with regard to: Creating opportunities for foreign companies? Creating opportunities for Indian companies? Creating opportunities for Indian workers? Creating changes in social structures (e.g., family, caste system, etc.), consumption and ways of living generally? What ethical issues would you anticipate having to deal with if you operated in the Indian business environment?
