2 Opportunities & Goals  Helping socio-economically disadvantaged children in elementary and middle school  Mentoring as pen-pals  Improving oral, reading, and writing skills  Guiding students in pursuing interests, academics, and careers

3 Project Description  Encourage reading and discussion  Provide students with guidance in choosing academic and career goals  Arrange trips  Social  Academic

4 Timeline  Summer 2010  Train mentors (college student volunteers)  Connect with potential partners  Fall 2010  Start of program Working with min. 2 schools, with one class per school Pairing students with mentors  Continue recruitment and training of volunteers
