Teaching imperatives through actions (Beginners) The following presentation, while sharing similarities with the I am walking procedures of the Direct Method. Total Physical Response (TPR): TPR is based on the principle that learners best when they are wholly engaged (both physical and mentally) in language learning process. Shortly, TPR is listening and acting.

For example, when teacher teaches students, teacher says sit down and also sit down, the students will know this action is called sit down SIT DOWN!!

STEP1: Following what ’ s the teacher said.. To the two students, teacher says sit down at the same time and sits down herself, indicate with a gesture that the students should do the same. Sit down!!

Step2: Following a similar procedure as in Step1 and using as object the classroom features previously taught. Walk to the door

Step 2 Open the door

Step 3. Step2 is then repeated, but with the inclusion of the negative imperative from don ’ t. Teacher says: “ Don ’ t Sit Down ” Don’t sit down!!

Step 4. The teacher writes the following actions on the board and asking students to repeat after her. Repeat after me!!

Conclusion The E-factor and A-factor are dispensable and can ’ t be set aside. The advantages of the E-factor is using the action to convey the meaning of grammar and tell the students what ’ s the meaning of a sentence by an action or a movement. And about the A-factor is suitable for younger learners or beginners. They may have a discussion with each other but right to be silent when the teacher says ; they can just sit over there instead of doing actions, and then giving the students more responsibility and involvement in the learning process is also important as well. Last but not least, no matter what methods we use in the class, however, when we give a lesson to our students, we should evaluate what is good for them in advance and teach them in accordance with their aptitude.
