MSN (originally The Microsoft Network) is a collection of Internet sites and services provided by Microsoft. The Microsoft Network debuted as an online service and Internet service provider was founded on August 24, 1995, to coincide with the release of the Windows 95 operating system. MSN is the world's second-biggest Internet service providers, with the nine million users, after the AOL. The range of services offered by MSN has changed since its initial release in 1995. MSN was once a simple online service for Windows 95, an early experiment at interactive multimedia content on the Internet, and one of the most popular dial-up Internet service providers.. Microsoft used the MSN brand name to promote numerous popular web-based services in the late 1990s, most notably Hotmail and Messenger, before reorganizing many of them in 2005 under another brand name, Windows Live. MSN‘s Internet portal, MSN.com, is currently the 9th most visited domain name on the Internet.

In addition to the Internet service provider and the Internet portal, the name “MSN” has been used for a number of related services. The three most popular of these are Hotmail, Messenger and Live Spaces.

Live Messenger is polymerization global network connections of new generation of instant communication platform, provide new individualized instant communication way, polymerization of the Msn portal, Space, Hotmail! Windows Live Messenger (formerly named MSN Messenger) is an Instant messaging client created by Microsoft.

Windows Live Spaces Windows Live Spaces (previously MSN Spaces) is Microsoft‘s blogging and Social Networking platform. The site was originally released in early 2004 under the MSN Spaces name to compete with other social networking sites. Windows Live Spaces received an estimated 27 million (27,000,000) unique visitors per month as of August 2007.

Windows Live Hotmail, formerly known as MSN Hotmail and commonly referred to simply as Hotmail, is a free web-based service operated by Microsoft as part of its Windows Live group. It was founded by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith and launched in July 1996 as "HoTMaiL". It was one of the first web-based email services. Faster More convenience More safety

A Web portal, also known as a links page , presents information from diverse sources in a unified way. Apart from the standard search engine feature , web portals supply other services such as e-mail, news, databases, information and entertainment. Today, the competition between the different web portals has intensified in recent years. Design of a good web portal, is becoming the growing need of users and web developers around the world and also for the brand to stay in. The heyday of the big Internet portals was the late 1990s, when America Online, @Home, Excite, and Go.com were all the rage. Today AOL, MSN, and Yahoo are among the handful of survivors that remain extremely popular. According to data provided by MSN, it receives 600 million monthly visitors, making it a top Internet destination.

Microsoft is revamping its MSN portal to give it a modern look and new social networking tools so that it can adapt to the market variations. The fact that MSN is revamping its portal just as rival Yahoo is turning up the marketing heat with an "It's You" marketing campaign is probably no coincidence. It's also likely that Microsoft's official debut of the updated MSN site will occur at roughly the same time that Yahoo integrates the Bing search engine into its portal; observers expect both things to happen early next year. Yahoo stands for “Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle”. Yahoo! Currently has 500 million users worldwide that visit the site each month. It is provided to users in more than twenty different languages. The company also has office location in Europe, the Aisa Pacific , Latin America, Canada and the United States. Today, Yahoo portal has become one of the leading search engines on the World Wide Web.
