2 Downloading and extracting the File Download the file named: SYNBIOSYS_Cadence.tar.gz from the website to your work directory Type > ls –l You will be able to see that SYNBIOSYS_Cadence.tar.gz has been added to your work directory Run the command > tar –xvpf SYNBIOSYS_Cadence.tar.gz SYNBIOSYS_Cadence/ Type > ls –l You will notice that there is a new folder SYNBIOSYS_Cadence in your work directory This will be the directory from which we will run our demo Move to the SYNBIOSYS_Cadence folder in your work directory > cd SYNBIOSYS_Cadence

3 Contents Type > ls –la You will notice the following directories and files.artist_states is a folder that contains the simulation states of the demo that we will run later.cdsenv contains the environment variables that need to be set before starting Cadence.cdsinit is the same as $CDSDIR/tools/dfII/cdsuser/.cdsinit and is used to configure the Cadence program each time it starts.simulation is the folder in which your simulation results are stored Demo_Nodas contains a completed design of the serpentine channel NODAS_FLUID contains the verilog codes and symbol views for all the different components that will be used in our demo cds.lib contains all the libraries that need to be present when Cadence starts up cds.sh specifies the paths that Cadence needs to follow include is a folder that contains a file used by the components in NODAS_FLUID
