4 Train to Gain core offer (1) Fully funded First level 2 Repeat level 2 from SSC agreed list Skills for life at all levels First level 3 for 19 – 24 year olds First level 3 for individuals without a first level 2 First level 4 for 19-24 year olds without a first level 3

5 Train to Gain core offer (2) Shared investment for First level 3 Repeat level 3 from SSC agreed list English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Apprenticeships Leadership and Management Full cost bespoke training

7 SME Offer Units / thin qualifications at levels 2,3 and 4 in 10 business critical areas; Business Improvement Techniques (BIT) Business systems / processes Team working/communications Finance and credit Risk management Marketing and sales Customer services New product design Cash flow and profit management IT user / IT support List will expand in response to identified need

8 Sector Compacts Agreement between Sector Skills Councils, DIUS & the LSC Employer engagement on sector priority qualifications Skills for Life Specified Level 2 & 3 Apprenticeships Leadership & Management development Future developments may include level 4 Currently in place with Semta, Cogent, Proskills & Semta

9 Sector qualification reform New or revised qualifications and frameworks Unitised delivery Migration from National Qualification Framework (NQF) to Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) Reduced number of qualifications Deliver in units / bite sized chunks Combination, within rules, from mixed qualifications Progressively available from August 2009 to August 2010

11 Apprenticeships (2) All age apprenticeships now available National Apprenticeship Service –Launch planned April 2009 –Vacancy matching service, now available –Can continue to work with an existing provider –Or NAS will source provision –Vacancies accessible to all potential applicants

12 Economic downturn ESF contract in place with Unity to support Staff at risk of or under notice of redundancy in the Manufacturing sector; –works with JCP on CV preparation & interview skills –Provides support for retraining linked to job offer
