Data is from Rainfall Frequency Atlas of the Midwest, F.A. Huff and J.R. Angel, Midwestern Climate Center and the Illinois State Water Survey, Champaign, IL, 1992. Rainfall Depth The rainfall depth for Clinton County, Indiana, with a return period of 25 years and a duration of 2 hour is 2.99 inches. Data is from Rainfall Frequency Atlas of the Midwest, F.A. Huff and J.R. Angel, Midwestern Climate Center and the Illinois State Water Survey, Champaign, IL, 1992. The average Rainfall Depth (P) = (2.84+2.99)/2 = 2.915 inch The Runoff Depth (Q) = (P-.2*S)^2/(P+.8*S) = (2.915-.2*2.75)^2/(2.915+.8*2.75) = 1.0935 inch = 2.78 cm

12 Total Runoff Volume = 1.0935*2.54/100*4347*10000 = 1,207,400 cubic meters If we consider this volume will accumulate in 2 hours, Discharge Volume = 168 cubic meter/ second

13 Assume a pond of 15 acre area Area elevation 15 670 15 692 For the outlet we use Centerline elevation of 670 ft. Discharge coefficient = 0.6 Exponent =.5 Spillway configuration Crest Elevation = 690 ft Exponent = 1.5, Length = 20 ft, discharge coefficient = 4.03. I also used 6 pipes of 24”each for the outlet The pond peak flow is 811 cfs and the detention time is 11.20 hr That is reduced from 2400 cfs
