3 Seminars Research Seminars –Invited speakers and Ph.d. students present and discuss papers Critical Response Seminars –Informal discussions in which Ph.d. students discuss ongoing work with professors ------------------------------------ Courses within areas that are central to the doctoral school See http://www.hci.hum.auc.dk/activities/

4 Project Status Working on the dissertation Done going to seminars/courses (30 ECTS points required = 0.5 year) Done gaining teaching experience or experience in the dissemination of knowledge (30 ECTS points required) Participating in research activities, including stays at other, mainly foreign, research institutions

5 The Assessment Process Assessment committee with 3 members (professors, associate professors or equivalent), one member from same institution (normally chairman), 2 members from other institutions. Supervisor can’t be member, but takes part in the work of the committee without voting rights Preliminary assessment – committee submits a recommendation stating whether the dissertation fulfils the requirements for the award of a Ph.D. degree. Public defence Final recommendation from assessment committee
