2 Workshop Objectives Participants will be able to: Complete the necessary steps to have a course created for you in Blackboard Successfully log in to the UNMC Blackboard system Recognize the various features available in Blackboard

3 Workshop Objectives Participants will be able to: Create announcements for students in your Blackboard online course Add textual content to your Blackboard online course Remove content from your Blackboard online course

4 What is Blackboard? A course management system & an information portal The standard online course management system for the University of Nebraska system From the standpoint of online course materials, you might think of it as a “shell”

5 How do I get my course(s) in Blackboard? Contact LEIS with the following information: –Course name –Course number –All individuals with instructor status Within 24-48 hours, your course will be online and ready for editing

6 Once I have a course in Blackboard, what next? Three ways to log on to Blackboard: Note: You will need your Lotus Notes web-based email username and password 1.A Quick Connect link is provided at http://info.unmc.edu/ http://info.unmc.edu/ 2.The full URL of Blackboard is http://my.unmc.edu/ http://my.unmc.edu/ 3.A Blackboard icon is on every multimedia classroom computer desktop

9 Password Type in your Lotus Notes Username and Password

11 Let’s try it! Open Internet Explorer (recommended browser) Find the Blackboard icon on your desktop Click on the Blackboard icon Type in your username and password
