Diether H. Haenicke and Elson S. Floyd Diether H. Haenicke 1985-1998 West campus is completely renovated. Numerous facilities and establishments are added. Elson S. Floyd 1998-2003 WMU is awarded the highest classification of doctoral-research universities by the Carnegie Foundation.
