1 WHAT IS THE H1N1? Today we are going to speak about the h1n1 (swing) flu. It is a new desease that has appeared in 2009 around the world, and we are going to speak about some topics that are: 1. An explanation about the virus developement. 2. The symthoms that creates this desease. 3. The medicines to fight it. Are they effective? Do they have dside effects? 4. The world situation. Is the worst pandemic ever? 5. What do you think about the theory that there is a conspiracy of the pharmacological industry related to the swine flu? What is it about? 6. Who can we get this flu? Now we are going to give you a little definition of the swing flu: Is a new virus that has never before circulated among humans. This virus is not related to previous or current human seasonal influenza viruses. is a subtype of influenzavirus A and the most common cause of influenza (flu) in humans. Some strains of H1N1 are endemic in humans and cause a small fraction of all influenza-like illness and a large fraction of all seasonal influenza. H1N1 strains caused roughly half of all human flu infections in 2006. Other strains of H1N1 are endemic in pigs (swine influenza) and in birds (avian influenza). In June 2009, World Health Organization declared that flu due to a new strain of swine-origin H1N1 was responsible for the 2009 flu pandemic. This strain is often called "swine flu" by the public media.

2 Are there medicines to threat H1N1? Are they effective? Antiviral medications can sometimes help lessen influenza symptoms, but require a prescription. Most people do not need these antiviral drugs to fully recover from the flu. Ask your health care provider whether you need antiviral medication.Influenza infections can lead to or occur with bacterial infections. Therefore, some people will also need to take antibiotics. More severe or prolonged illness or illness that seems to get better, but then gets worse again may be an indication that a person has a bacterial infection. Check with your health care provider if you have concerns.Do not give aspirin to children or teenagers who have the flu; this can cause a rare but serious illness called Reye’s syndrome. And to end we are going to answer that question Are there medicines to threat H1N1 flu? Yes. There are drugs your doctor may prescribe for treating both seasonal and 2009 H1N1 called “antiviral drugs.” These drugs can make you better faster and may also prevent serious complications. This flu season, antiviral drugs are being used mainly to treat people who are very sick, such as people who need to be hospitalized, and to treat sick people who are more likely to get serious flu complications. Your health care provider will decide whether antiviral drugs are needed to treat your illness. Remember, most people with 2009 H1N1 have had mild illness and have not needed medical care or antiviral drugs and the same is true of seasonal flu.
