4. Jobs After receiving a Ph.D and carrying out research on the green alga Protosiphon. Mr. Bold sent 100 job inquiries and received two job offers. Great Depression Instructorship in Biology from Vanderbilt University  Starting Salary: $1,800 per year

11. Textbooks Morphology of Plants and Fungi  Most widely used general text book that was translated into many laguages. Introduction to Algae: Structure and Reproduction  discusses the distribution, reproduction, cultivation, classification, and fossil record of algae. The Plant Kingdom Phycological Studies  Co-authored with students from University of Texas  More than 11 dissertations were published in this series  Dr. Bold also contributed to various encyclopedias and was the author of 80 scientific papers

12. Bold Award  Established in 1973 to honor Harold C. Bold Competition for the Outstanding student research paper/ presentation at the annual meeting of the Phycological Society of America. The award consists of a certificate and monetary prize.  The information presented by the student must be that of the student’s in English and should be a complete or nearly complete study.  Students must submit an abstract and an ORIGINAL signed letter from the student’s research director to the Bold Award Committee
