3 Stevie Nicks The Early Years Born Stephanie Lynn Nicks May 26, 1948, in Phoenix, Arizona. Her father’s job made it so the family moved often, including New Mexico, Texas, Utah and finally California. Stevie was introduced to music by her grandfather, Aaron Nicks. Stevie joined her first band, Changing Times while attending high school in LA. In Palo Alto, California, Stevie met Lindsey Buckingham.

4 Stevie Nicks Partnership with Lindsey Buckingham In 1968, Stevie and Lindsey joined a band called Fritz. They opened for Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix before they disbanded in 1971. The duo continued to work together forming the group Buckingham-Nicks. By this time the two of them were deeply romantically involved. The duo only released one album, which went largely unnoticed. The duo joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975.

6 Fleetwood Mac Rhiannon would be voted in to Rolling Stones Magazines “500 greatest songs of all time”, while Landslide would go on to achieve over three million airplays and spawn multiple cover versions. Stevie’s contributed a song titled Dreams to the album Rumours. This single was the only U.S. #1 hit for the group. Rumours went on to win a Grammy Award for Album of the year in 1978. Their first album was a great success and included two songs written by Stevie, Rhiannon and Landslide.

8 Solo Career In 1981, Stevie released her first solo album titled, Bella Donna. The album reached #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with four singles making the Billboard Hot 100. Stevie would go on to record duets with many of the top recording artist including Don Henley, Sheryl Crow, Tom Petty and Lady Antebellum. Stevie continued recording with Fleetwood Mac throughout the 80’s while also releasing solo albums.
