22 Advanced Biofuels Mandate In 2008, the United States consumed 300 Billion gallons of liquid fuels 130 Billion gallons gasoline, 70 Billion gallons diesel fuel, 24 Billion gallons jet fuel The 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) mandates the production of 36 billion gallons per year of biofuels by 2022 The EISA Act requires that 21 billion gallons per year must qualify as “advanced biofuels” (i.e., non-corn ethanol).
