3 Deployment Guidelines Wave measurements should be made from a fixed platform Small tripods with weighted foot pads Orient the sensor vertically For best results, mount the sensor No more than 10 – 15 meters below the surface Consider wave frequencies and amplitudes of interest MAVS will return clean results from up to 30 meters below the surface under some conditions At least 0.75 – 1.0 meter above the bottom 1.5 – 2.0 meters is preferred

4 Sampling Guidelines 2 – 4 Hz measurement frequency 1 measurement per sample (no averaging) 2048 – 8192 samples per burst 10 – 45 minute burst duration Set interval between bursts to capture the time scales over which the wave field is changing East – North - Up velocity frame Observe memory and power constraints
