8 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 We start at Apache Junction, a lovely little village nestled in a corner of the Superstition Mountains National Recreation Area in Arizona

9 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 The Map for your Journey You will have to choose from one of three different routes to and from the Mine. Each has a different level of risk.

10 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Teams have limited but sufficient resources for their journey. Teams cannot afford to make bad decisions!

11 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Each team starts with a Grub Stake of Resource Cards of Supplies, Fuel Cards, Tents, Batteries, Spare Tires, and maybe some cash. Each is valued at $750.

12 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Each team gets a vehicle that uses fuel each day. You also use fuel for lighting, heating and cooking. Teams consume Fuel Cards each day.

13 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Teams consume Supply Cards each and every day during their journey

14 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Teams can expect Arctic Blasts to occur on occasion. Arctic Blasts use up extra supplies & fuel, everywhere.

15 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Each forecast requires one battery. A Battery is for getting a weather forecast A 5-Day Forecast is available on Days 5, 10, & 15 Each forecast requires one battery.

17 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Tent Cards are included in some Grub Stakes and are also available from your Trading Post or for exchange at any Supply Depot.

18 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Spare Tires are useful in case there are Ice Shards. Ice Shards are Very Rare. Resource Consumption

21 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Resource Consumption If you are waiting at Apache Junction, you will consume: One Supply Card and One Fuel Card.

22 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Resource Consumption If you are anywhere it is Sunny and Cool, you will consume: One Supply Card and One Fuel Card. Sunny and Cool is the most common Weather Pattern.

23 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 If you are traveling on the Low Country Trail and the weather is Rainy and Wet, you are “In The Mud.” Consumption “In The Mud” will be: One Supply Card and TWO Fuel Cards Resource Consumption

24 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 If you waiting for the Flooding in the Canyon to subside, you consume One Supply Card and One Fuel Card. Tom’s Canyon will flood on occasion. Resource Consumption

25 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Resource Consumption Should an Arctic Blast occur, you will consume TWO Supply Cards and FOUR Fuel Cards. If you are mining Gold and an Arctic Blast occurs, you will consume TWO, FOUR and One Shelter.

26 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 If you are Mining Gold and it is Cool and Sunny, you consume One Supply Card, One Fuel Card and One Shelter. You consume Shelter only when Mining Gold in The Lost Dutchman’s Mine. Resource Consumption

27 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Teams will have 15 minutes to plan and trade at the Trading Post

28 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 You can exchange resources ONLY at Apache Junction or in a Supply Depot

29 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Just in case... Should your team find that it has not planned well and run out of goods, use your Beacon Bring to the Trading Post for extra resources. You must get back to Apache Junction. Note: This is not a rescue operation! Your team gives up half its gold to our charity for team education

30 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 There are Three possible routes High Country Trail Plateau Trail Low Country Trail And we MAY play so teams take one trail to and a Different trail back to Apache Junction

31 Performance Management Company, 1993 - 2007 Mud only. only Rainy weather creates Mud on the Low Country Trail, only. There is never mud on Plateau or High Country Trails Shelter is needed only when you are mining Gold in The Lost Dutchman’s Mine One last time…
