2 Data collected to date Data for May and June, 2003 101 client records submitted Data submitted from 12 Clinics (ranging from 1-17 client records from each Clinic) 66% females Mean age 77.5, range 32-94 years 11% under 65 years and 27% over 85 years

5 Body Mass Index Healthy weight: –20-25kg/m 2 for those under 65 years –24-29kg/m 2 for those over 65 years 26% healthy weight 17% underweight 19% overweight 39% missing either BMI or age

6 Cognitive Impairment Cognitive impairment indicated as a risk factor for 25% of clients 17 clients had no formal cognition test performed Cognition tests indicated that 21% of clients had cognitive impairment 7 clients who had cognitive impairment as a risk factor also lived alone and had no carer

8 Reason for Referral Falls: 81 Gait Disorder: 19 Loss of Consciousness/Syncope: 1 Dizziness: 17 Other: 9 (included; dementia, fear of falling, foot abnormalities, mobility restriction, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s, unsteady)

9 Falls and injuries 75 clients fell; 60 fell more than once 54 clients had falls resulting in an injury 28 clients had >1 injurious fall 35 clients sought medical attention 11 clients sought medical attention >1 46 clients suffered bruises and grazes; 9 had a fracture, 7 had cuts but no stitches, 4 had cuts and stitches, others had sprains and one had confusion
