5 Conclusion JR East aims for worldwide first class standard for the next generation of Shinkansen, in terms of speed, comfort, reliability and harmony with the environment. To comprehensively assess and verify development technology in the real environment and under actual conditions, JR East completed the development of a high-speed test train exclusively for this purpose and is now implementing running tests. All functions verified in the high-speed tests will be compiled as a mass production specification and will be used to create the next generation of Shinkansen railcar. 1 3 2
