2. Yulis Basketball Tournament The Basketball Tournament in memory of Itai Yulis OBM is an important Gush Katif tradition, currently marking its 24 th year! This summer, commemorating ten years since the destruction of Gush Katif, we plan a special day for the dispersed people of Gush Katif, culminating with this unique tournament. COST: $10,000.00 The 1 st basketball tournament in memory of Itai. Ganei Tal, Gush Katif (1993).

3.  In the following years, the basketball tournament moved to the Gush Katif sports hall. Professional judges were appointed, rules were set and the youth became more involved. 1996 The mayor and other pillars of the community hand out the trophies.

4. 2005 The shadow of Disengagement didn’t stop this game or dampen the team spirit! It was our last basketball tournament in Gush Katif.

5. 2006 Photo credit: Yisrael Bardugo Following the withdrawal from Gaza, the basketball tournament continued. Bigger than ever! Our spirit wasn’t broken! We were honored to play in the Jerusalem stadium with special guest Tal Brody.
