2.5D machining Contents
2
Geometry model import Import of a *.3dm model. The model is a collection of closed plane contours. View of contours in the viewport List of contours in the object inspector Imported geometry elements folder Geometry model import dialog Contents
3
3-axis milling machine will be used for machining. Select it throug the machine selection dialog. Machine selection Machine selection and customization List of available machines Selected machine Machine selection dialog Contents
4
Workpiece definition Workpiece will be created by extruding the outer contour with additional stock. Workpiece definition tab Extrusion panel button Workpiece extrusion dialog Top/Bottom workpiece levels Stock Workpiece contour curve Highlighted selected curve of the workpiece contour Semitransparent view of the workpiece Contour selected as the workpiece Contents
5
Operation creation The first operation we will be using us the 2.5D pocketing operation. Operation creation dialog 2.5D pocketing Operation groups New operation Contents
6
Job assignment Selected operation Job assigment tab The job assigment will consist of forming contours. Cover Outer contour will be defined as a cover with Z level 20 Inner contour will be defined as a hole with Z level 5 This contour will be defined as a cover with Z level 15 This contour will be defined as a hole with Z level of 3 List of forming contours Contents
7
Machining parameters Active operation Operation parameters dialog Let’s examine the main parameters of the new operation. Contents
8
Machining parameters Spiral plunge Quantity of layers Additional flat areas machining Cylindrical mill Radial stock for futher machining Relief angle Contents
9
Toolpath calculation Calculate toolpath Toolpath Green tick means there are no errors during calculation Contents
10
Machining simulation Workpiece Tool Machining result of the 2.5D pocketing operation Contents
11
Operation creation Next operation – 2.5D wall machining. This operation will remove the radial stock (0.5 mm) of the previous 2.5D pocketing opeartion. Operation creating dialog Finishing operations group 2.5D wall machining Use Fill parameters otption to copy parameters of previous operation into the new one Newly created 2.5D wall machining operation Contents
12
Job assignment We used the Fill parameters option so all parameters from the previous 2.5D pocketing operation (including the Job assignment) were copied to the new operation. Therefore, there is no need to specify them because the machined elements are the same. Active operation Job assignment The list of contours is copied from the 2.5D pocketing operation Contents
13
Machining parameters We used the Fill parameters option and all technology parameters from previous 2.5D pocketing operation were passed into new operation. We only need to change the tool and set the radial stock to “0” Radial stock Arc radius Cylindrical mill D=7, L=35 Arc radius Contents
14
Toolpath calculation Toolpath A mark that there were no errors in the calculation Contents
15
Machining simulation Machining result of the previous operation is marked with color Machining result of the 2.5D wall machining operation Contents
16
Operation creation Next operation – Hole machining. This operation is used to machine holes specified by circles on the draft. Create operation dialog Finishing operations group Hole machining New operation - Hole machining Contents
17
Job assignment Job assignment tab Hole center definition List of hole contours Properties button is used to specify the depths of the holes Hole contours Contents
18
Machining parameters We specify drill (D=4.7, L=40) as the tool for the hole machining operation and specify “Simple drilling” for the drilling type. Contents
19
Toolpath calculation Toolpath Sign that calculation was error free Contents
20
Machining simulation Machining result of hole drilling Contents
21
