1 Berries, ”Bär”

2 The Cloudberry The most valuable wild berry, the harvest of which is the richest in the provinces of Oulu and Lapland. The cloudberries are yellow and soft. Unripe berries are hard and red. The harvest is ripe in Southern Finland from the mid-july on, and in Nothern Finland cloudberries can be picked from the end of July until long in August.

3 The cloudberry has a high nutrient  The cloudberry is rich in vitamins E, A and C that is used as antioxidants in our organs. That kind of berry has much more vitamin A than other berries and It also contains more fibre than any other berry.  The cloudberry is rich in minerals and micronutrients, the contents of which are in favourable proportion to our organs.  The cloudberry´s seed oil has a positive effect on skin well-being. The seed oil is use as raw material in the cosmetics industry.

6 The lingonberry  The lingonberry is the most productive wild berry in Finland. The lingonberry is common in the whole country. The richest crops are produced in the provinces of Lapland and Oulu and in the regions of Middle Finland. The lingonberry grows on dry forest. Lingonberries are ready for picking in late August and the season lasts until the end of September. Lingonberries are very rich in vitamins A and C, and they also contain minerals such as magnesium.  The lingonberries are used in different kind of jams, jellies and juices. Lingonberry jelly nicely flavours meat courses. Whipped lingonberry pudding served with cream is a traditional Finnish dessert.

7 The Everyman’s right  The Everyman’s right applies to everyone, and gives everyone an opportunity to spend time in nature. Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway and Scotland are the countries that have the Everyman’s right. The Everyman’s right permits you to travel across private domains, and to temporarily spend time there. With this right follows responsibility and ability to take care of nature and animals alike. It’s also important to respect landowners and other people.

8 The Everyman’s right  The Everyman’s right allows us to for instance: - To walk, go biking or horseback riding pretty much anywhere - To pick wild flowers, berries and mushrooms that are not protected - Go fishing in most lakes  The Everyman’s right forbids us to (for example): - To leave garbage behind in nature - Go hiking on somebody else’s land for more than one day and one night - Break branches and twigs on trees and bushes  -Let dogs run around uncontrolled
