2 2015 Millennium Goals End Poverty and World Hunger Achieve Universal Primary Education Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women Reduce Child Mortality Improve Maternal Health Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases Ensure Environmental Sustainability Develop a Global Partnership For Development

3 Poverty and Hunger Reduce by half, the proportion of people living on less than a dollar a day Reduce by half, the proportion of people who suffer from hunger.

4 Problem The progress for reducing hunger is being prevented by increases in food cost Escalating prices are driven by: Changing diets Increase in world population Economic growth Use of food crops for biofuel

5 The poor are the most affected, especially children

7 Result Malnourished children under the age of five declined from 33% in 1990 to 26% in 2006
