Experiment #1 Phototropism

Objective: To see if plants follow the light in a maze

Hypothesis I think that the plant will follow the maze all the way around till the end.

Materials: Cardboard box with a lid Scissors Light source A growing plant Cardboard to make the maze Water (to water the plant as needed)

Activity: 1. Build a plant maze out of a cardboard box like the one shown in the next slide. Use a sprouted sweet potato or a sturdy bean seedling. Face the outside opening toward a bright light or window.

2. Put a light-proof cover on the maze. You may remove the cover each day to see if the plant needs watering and to check on its growth.

My observations 1.By day 2 the plant got through the first opening. 2. By day 4 the plant got through the second opening. 3. By the second week the plant got through the third opening. 4. By the end of the 3 week the plant finally came out the last hole.

Conclusion The plant came out as I suspected then it came out nice through out the last hole.The plant died 3 days later.
