2 A substance that dissolves
Soluble A substance that dissolves

3 A substance that does not dissolve.
Insoluble A substance that does not dissolve.

4 The substance in a solution that dissolves the solute.
Solvent The substance in a solution that dissolves the solute.

5 Solute The substance that dissolves in a solvent. Solutes can be solids, liquids, or gases.

6 Solution A homogeneous mixture of a solvent and a solute. In which they are both evenly mixed.

7 Dissolve The process that takes place when a solvent is mixed with a solute to make a solution. For example, when sodium chloride is mixed with water, it dissolves to form a solution of sodium chloride in water.

8 Purpose: Using the vocabulary terms that we have just learned create
a purpose for the lab that we have discussed.
