2. A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing A prophet was one who could foresee and issued Spirit provided teaching (cp. I Cor. 12: 8-10). There was protection in place (I Cor. 12: 10; I John 4: 1, 2: 20). One could and can also ascertain “false prophets” based on their teaching (cp. I John 4: 2-3, 2 John 9-11) and life (Gal. 2: 14, see 2 Cor. 11: 13-15).
