5 4-H 202 – ID Rules/Requirements Revised version due out Jan. 1  ID rule – 4-H/FFA 4-H’er can IDmarket lambs A, B, C in 4-H; market lambs D, E, F in FFA State Fair rule still applies – 4-H’er can only show in market or breeding division in 4-H, and FFA in the other County Fair - 4-H’er could show market lamb A, B as 4-H in County X, show market lamb D, E as FFA in County Y

7 4hOnline EVERY animal in 4hOnline – Why?  Communication State Office  4-H families Rule reminders, deadlines, etc.  Ear tags need to be entered as: 06-234 or 45-432 Market beef, sheep, meat goats Dash between the county code and ear tag number No leading zeros before tag number: 06-6, NOT 06-006 Swine – just the tag number, no county code needed

8 Weigh-In/Retinal Imaging Changes Green tags forever….no tag color rotations  $5.00/head fee to State 4-H Office Market Beef, ALL sheep, Meat Goats wethers  County will be INVOICED for number of head 4hOnline - number # animals with “RI” box checked Checks payable to: ISU Animals attending outside county, paid by “home” county Example: Story County has 30 head, but 5 of those 30 weighed in at Boone County; Story gets billed for all 30 head  Images will still be emailed to State 4-H Office

10 Beef Breeding Beef/Market Heifer ID Change  No need to re-ID as breeding in 4hOnline  4-H’er can decide to show either way  4hOnline export-market beef “females”, all breeding beef Adding fall-aged heifers to State Fair show  Sept. 1 – Dec. 31 (2011)

11 Dog Change Handling class age break for seniors  From grades 10 – 12 to 9 - 12 State Dog Leader Training Committee  Need county leaders, volunteers and/or staff to serve  Create training program – consistent rules, classes, trainings, etc.

12 Horse New 4H 511C Rule Book – due out in January State Fair Classes Deleted  2/3 Year Old Western Pleasure  Saddleseat Pleasure  Saddleseat Equitation State Fair NEW Classes  Halter: Mares age 3 – 7 years; 8 & Over Geldings age 3 – 7 years; 8 & Over Pony Halter – all mares, all geldings  Flags (timed race)

13 Horse 4hOnline animals will “persist” Photos required (State Fair), county optional ID & Leasing Changes  ID a max. of 5 horses total per 4-H’er  Of those, max. of 2 can be leased  NO LEASING of halter horses  ID of same horse exception: More kids than horses….  Lease form in 4hOnline; editable PDF to upload

14 Meat Goat Remove Bracing Rule for Market Wethers  All goats must have four feet on the floor in the show ring at all times. Lifting feet off the ground or placing on any support or altered ring surface is not acceptable. Exhibitors will receive one warning if they are found lifting or slapping goats. Second offenses will result in automatic exhibitor disqualification from the 4-H Meat Goat Show. Breeding does need 4-H tag, no images Market wethers still need 4-H tag AND images

15 Rabbit 4hOnline ID deadline July 1  ALL rabbits  Be sure rabbits have a tattoo listed!

16 Sheep ALL State Fair sheep must have a 4-H tag and retinal images  Market sheep, commercial breeding, purebred breeding  Entered as “Sheep, weighed-in” in 4hOnline by county staff  Be SURE to check the “Retinal Images” box in 4hOnline If there are no images, they’re not eligible for State Fair

17 Swine Swine Show Reporting – same as 2012  Forms on 4-H Swine page Show a max. of 3 gilts per breed, & 3 commercial gilts Increase maximum market hog weight  From 290, to 300 lbs.

18 Swine Discontinuation of Derby Show at 2013 State Fair  2 ID types in 4hOnline  Swine (weighed in) County fair derby shows Entered by county staff (like market beef, sheep)  Swine (not weighed in) Entered by families

19 State Fair Swine Either swine animal type is eligible for State Fair  DNA punch tag required Counties order tag materials from State 4-H Office via Jotform: # of DNA punch tags, # of DNA taggers, # of DNA envelopes State Office will ship materials out to counties $8.00/tag will be invoiced based on order.  Tagging/Submitting DNA samples County staff can DNA tag pigs Or, have 4-H’er get tags/tagger and bring back DNA samples in special envelope Counties mail each kid’s envelope of DNA samples via trackable source (UPS, FedEx) as one group by May 15 th Simple list of 4-H’er names from that county with box of envelopes
