2 In English  We simply add don’t to a command to tell someone not to do something  Don’t speak English  Don’t use your phone in class

3 In Spanish  You form the negative tú command by changing the yo form of the present tense and adding no.  -ar verbs -o changes to –es  -er/-ir verbs -o changes to -as

4 For example  Gastar-to spend  Yo gasto mucho dinero  I spend a lot of money  ¡No gastes demasiado dinero!  Don’t spend too much money

5 Usar-to use Uso mi teléfono en clase I use my phone in class ¡No uses tu teléfono en clase! Don’t use your phone in class!

6 Cerrar-(e-ie)to close  I am closing the window  Cierro la ventana  Don’t close the window!  ¡No cierres la ventana!

7 Abrir-to open  I am opening the window  Abro la ventana  Don’t open the window!  ¡No abras la ventana!
