3 Purpose - Goal  Promote recovery through a coordinated response to participants dependent on alcohol and other drugs  Improve outcomes for alcohol and other drug addicted individuals in the courts through collaboration, thereby: Enhancing public safety, ensuring participant accountability, and reducing costs to society system

4 FDTC Team  FDTC – comprehensive and inclusive collaboration between core team members: Judge Drug Court Coordinator County Attorney/Prosecutor Public Defender Probation Officer/Social Worker Law Enforcment Chemical Dependency Expert/Clinical Tribal

5 Participants  Currently open in CHIPS Court  Screened by the FDTC Team  Volunteers to participate in good faith  Signs terms of participation

6 Phase One Goals  Assessments  Detoxification  Primary Treatment  Put into practice recovery skills and relapse prevention skills

7 Phase One Expectations  Absolute sobriety  Cooperate w/daily call in & random UA’s  Enter & complete primary Tx  Begin aftercare plan + recommended support group meetings  Court attendance on time weekly  Cooperate with team  Establish & maintain chemical free home

8 Minimum Required To Advance To Phase Two  Successful completion of primary treatment  Minimum of 12 weeks documented clean UA’s under family drug court-type regime  Team recommendation

9 Phase Two Goals  Continued sobriety  Aftercare programming  Re-integration into sober community  Successful implementation of recovery skills and relapse prevention skills  Employment and/or schooling

10 Phase Two Expectations  Absolute sobriety  Enter into & complete aftercare programming  Continue any recommended support group meetings  Cooperate w/daily call in and random UA’s  Court attendance on time every other week  Cooperate with team members  Make good faith effort to further employment and/or schooling

11 Minimum Requirements to Advance to Phase Three  Participation in aftercare programming  Minimum of 12 weeks documented clean UA’s under family drug court regime since advancement to phase two  Team recommendation

12 Phase Three Goals  Continued aftercare programming  Cognitive Skills programming and sober parenting programming if recommended  Successful implementation of recovery skills and relapse prevention skills  Employment and/or schooling  Be a sober role model for other family drug court participants

13 Phase Three Expectations  Absolute sobriety  Complete cognitive skills or sober parenting programming  Cooperate w/daily call in & random UA’s  Court attendance on time every four weeks  Make a good faith effort to further employment and/or schooling  Cooperate with team  Model sober behaviors for other family drug court participants

14 Minimum Requirements to Advance and Graduate  Successful completion of aftercare programming  Successful completion of cognitive skills or sober parenting programming if recommended  Complete 52 weeks sobriety as documented by clean UA’s under family drug court regime

15 Incentives  Praise/recognition by the Court  Gift certificates  Bus passes  Treatment medallions  Certificates of accomplishment  Clothing vouchers  Gas cards,  Respite care  Recognition of birthdays; birthdays of children

16 Sanctions  Graduation from FDC requires 52 weeks of clean UA’s  Any positive UA or documented use – back to phase one reporting  Any failure to call in for a UA, failure to report for a UA or failure to provide a UA will be deemed a positive UA and will result in sanctions.

17 Sanction – 1 st Incident  Before or During Primary Treatment Contempt – 90 days county jail, stayed; participant is allowed to purge the contempt without serving time with compliance of rules  After Primary Treatment Contempt – 90 days county jail, stayed; if previous contempt then updated Rule 25 and 48 hours in jail

18 Sanction – 2 nd Incident  Before and During Primary Treatment Updated Rule 25/CD Assessment; 48 hours jail; detention or work release  After Primary Treatment Updated Rule 25 assessment; 5 days jail; detention or work release

19 Sanction – 3 rd Incident  Before and During Primary Treatment Updated Rule 25/CD Assessment; 48 hours jail; detention or work release  After Primary Treatment Updated Rule 25/CD Assessment; 10 days jail; detention or work release

20 Sanctions – 4 th Incident  Before and During Primary Treatment Updated Rule 25/CD Assessment; Hold in jail; detention or work release pending placement in recommended treatment  After Primary Treatment Updated Rule 25/CD Assessment; 15 days jail; detention or work release

21 Sanctions - Thereafter  Additional drug or alcohol use dealt with on an individual basis  Termination from Family Drug Court program  Report of unsuccessful completion to the CHIPS Court Judge

22 Sanctions - Intermediate  Failure to report to: Court, SW, Rule 25, Programs  Late report to: Court, treatment, or Court ordered appointments May include but not limited to: reprimand from judge, implementation of curfew, detention/jail time, STS or other volunteer hours, increased BA’s/UA’s, increased Court appearances, increased monitoring by SW, increased support groups, or electronic monitoring or Drug Court UA/BA pager
