2 Apuntes (25.3.14) What is a verb? – An action word. What is an infinitive? – The unconjugated form a of a verb. In English it is the verb with to before it. In Spanish it is a verb that ends in –ar, – er, or –ir. What does it mean to conjugate? – To change the ending of the verb to tell who does the action and when (past, present, future). Regular verbs all follow the same pattern based on their endings. -ar -o-amos -as-áis -a-an -er -o-emos -es-éis -e-en -ir -o-imos -es-ís -e-en

3 Apuntes (25.3.14) Irregular verbs have spelling changes and don’t follow the exact pattern perfectly, although it maybe similar. You need to memorize these individually. Irregular yo forms, the other forms conjugate normally. – ver – yo veo – hacer – yo hago – saber – yo sé

6 Apuntes (27.3.14) el verbo ir ir means to go. It must be followed by to the – ir + a la (for the feminine locations) – ir + al (for a masculine location) You must conjugate ir voy vas va vamos vais van You must conjugate ir voy vas va vamos vais van

8 Apuntes (28.3.14) Preguntas There are two common ways to ask questions. 1.Turning a statement into a question. – Do you have money? – ¿Tienes tú dinero? ¿VERBO + Subject + Other information? We don’t say do when saying questions in Spanish. We add an upside down question mark before the question.
