1 Ka Hikitia Goal 2012 My Goals: Taken from Tātaiako: Whanaungatanga- Links to Registered Teacher Criteria 1 Leader is: visible, welcoming and accessible to Maori parents, whanau, hapu, iwi and the Maori community What have I done? Out in the morning at 8:30am, road patrol afterschool Accessible at all times. Actively seeking parents, ringing parents, asking parents. “How is school going for you?” Following up questions/concerns Use of school hall/resources to Maori Groups- Weaving Group, Community Groups Evidence to show I am well on my way to achieving my goal: responses from the Maori Community only. 2 Next Steps for this Goal: “…enable Maori to participate in important decisions about their children’s learning.” How will I achieve this? Open Week at school. Parents will be invited to sit in classes and observe. Health Community Consultation? When? 2013 School Based Curriculum will be discussed with families. Is there a Maori/Pasifika focus? MAG or WAG? Work has started on this. Why am I focused on this goal? 3 Other Goals I have going on… AKO- Linked to Registered Teacher Criteria 4, 6, 8 and 12 Leader- Actively displays a genuine commitment to Maori learner success. Evidence- Data collected on achievement, Maori achieving success as Maori Implements a teacher appraisal system (our job description) that specifically includes Maori learner achievements as a focus. Effects on Maori Achievement: Comes from Syndicate Meetings (First box); Monitoring Meetings- teachers target student; teachers Writing Inquiry; teachers using the data smarter- knowing how their Maori, Pasifika students are achieving ; quality teachers- quality teaching and learning; Teachers being focused on Maori enjoying educational success as Maori- Ka Hikitia Goal; knowing what my role as a leader is. Using Summative Assessment- STAR, PAT, E-AsTTle…(Start and end point)
