2. How is Britain affected? 1.Religion: The Bible was frequently and widely read by people of every class. Religion was very important to the Britain's during the Victorian period 2.Education: the education was not equal to the classes or the sexes. Men were held at a higher priority and had more options over women. 3.Social Class: Working class - men and women who performed physical labor, paid daily or weekly wages. Middle class - men performed mental or "clean" work, paid monthly or annually. Upper class - did not work, income came from inherited land and investments 4.Diseases: Cholera (Human waste in drinking water), Consumption (tuberculosis of the lungs), and Typhus (spread by dirty conditions). 5.Men and Women: In proper middle-class and upper-class circles, women were supposed to have no sexual conduct before marriage. This was strongly stressed during the Victorian period. Women who married had no independent legal status. She had no right to any money, she could not make a will or buy property, she had no claim to her children, and she had to move with him wherever he went.

3. Victorian Language This portion done by T-Dawg Also know as “The Language of Flowers”, began around mid 1800’s and ended in the early 1900’s. It was very big during that time to have flowers symbolize certain feelings. One example we still use to this day is the red rose which symbolizes passion and love. Cockney or the language of the uneducated was the common language in England. It is still spoken in certain areas in *The letter “H” was deleted from words. ex. Head to ‘ead *Most prominently “t’s” were replaced by “uh” ex. “butter” to “bu’er.” In 1870 The Education Act was passed in all schools to blend the upper class language and cockney together to attempt to make the middle class smarter. If they denied to learn they were severely punished.

4. Victorian age from 1832-1901 How did it affect the world? By: Brittany Jager The industrial revolution began at the end of this age. This period brought change socially, economically and technologically. The population also grew very big during this time, which created more needs for food and housing. There began a potato famine which drew in other parts of the world to England. The potatoes came from South America. There were epidemics going around including Cholera, yellow fever, diphtheria, typhus and typhoid. 1839 – American Charles Goodyear invents process for making rubber strong and elastic. 1851 – Widespread hunger and government corruption lead to China’s taiping rebellion. 1876 – Korea becomes independent nation.
