2 2 Business case for the collaboration ■ Support implementation of the HEFCE’s e-Learning strategy 2005 ■ Develop closer working relationships between the two organisations ■ Simplify access to the range of e-learning resources and services provided by JISC and the Academy ■ Provide coherent and co-ordinated support to the Higher Education sector in e-learning ■ Identify gaps in current provision

3 3 Operationalising the Collaboration ■ 2005 ►Memorandum of Understanding: January ►HEFCE e-learning strategy: March ■ March 2006 - March 2009: Collaboration initiative ■ March 2007 – March 2009 ►Collaboration team (Jo Smedley (JISC Team Leader) & Sharon Waller (Academy Team Leader)) ►Established to work with Collaboration Network ■ Collaboration Network = Academy and JISC i.e. Academy Subject Centre Network and network of JISC Services and Regional Support Centres (RSCs)

4 4 Mapping the territory: recognising respective strengths  JISC and the Academy bring a wealth of complementary expertise and resources:  JISC  development programmes, tools, resources, content, repositories, research etc  advisory services  Academy  pedagogy, overarching L&T context, resources, professional development, research, staff development focus etc  discipline focus through subject centre network

5 5 Mapping the landscape: existing resources ■ Aims : ► to identify: ●good practice, ●the impact and usefulness of existing resources, ●possible duplication/overlap ►to provide strategic advice and guidance to JISC and the Academy on future development areas.

6 6 Campaigns and their methodology ■ Use of technology to support: ►Assessment (Sept 07 – Jan 08) ►Academic staff (Feb – May 08) ►Work-related learning (Jun 08 – Jan 09) ►The student learning experience (Jun 08 – Jan 09) ■ Methodology ►Stage 1: gathering information – sector consultation ►Stage 2: synthesis and gap analysis ►Stage 3: developing appropriate information vehicles ►Stage 4: providing strategic advice
