TOPIC IDEAS

TOPIC paper airplanes I wonder what kind of paper would make a paper airplane fly the farthest? QUESTION HYPOTHESIS RESEARCH EXPERIMENT APPLICATION CONCLUSIONS DATA - different weights of paper -different folding methods I think that tissue paper will work the best BECAUSE it is the lightest of all paper and gravity won’t pull it down too fast. - gather different types of paper, pencil, scientific journal, tape measure - write your procedure - test at least 5 times -gather results from experiment - Create a bar chart showing each paper type and the distance it traveled. -Printer paper worked the best because…. -My hypothesis was NOT correct because…. Now that I understand how different materials fly through the air, I should be able to pick out the perfect kite!

A display board which displays the scientific method. Science experiment Must meet safety standards.

Contains all the components of the scientific method. Pictures of the experiment throughout the process. Everything must be attached to the board

Project StepHelping at the Right LevelGoing too Far Ask a questionDiscussing with your child and guiding them to a topic of interest Picking an idea and a project for your child Background researchTaking your child to the library and helping with internet research. Doing an internet search and printing it yourself Construct hypothesisAsking how the hypothesis relates to an experiments the child can do Writing the hypothesis yourself Test the hypothesis/experiment Assisting with materials and monitoring safety Doing the experiment or just telling your child what to do Analyze data and draw conclusion Asking how your child will record the data. Populating a spreadsheet. Telling your child the conclusion. Present the resultsAct as an audience. Assist with display/model. BE PRESENT THE NIGHT OF FAIR WITH CHILD. Writing the text on the board or building the model. PRESENTING FOR CHILD.
