Also, extended the solution to provide controlled access to external members like clients, vendors etc. We proposed MS SharePoint Services (WSS 3.0). Most of the features like document management, version control, file retrieval, file storage and search were available in-built in WSS 3.0 and thus was setup in quick time with little customization. Our client had a large set of documents with multiple versions available, with each employee, without any proper change or configured management practice in place. There were multiple documents in soft copy formats in several file locations which was becoming difficult to manage and retrieve on demand. Also, client had several transaction details maintained manually and thus searching across the transaction files for a particular instance was proving to be a tedious job by the client.
