AM Agenda  Welcome and Introductions  Quick Review of Indexes 1-3  Scale Scores vs. Raw Score vs. Percentage Scores  Index 4 Overview  Questions

SCALE SCORES Why can’t I just use percentage scores?

Key Concepts (Tan/Michel, ETS, 2011.)  Raw Score – the total number of raw score points a test taker earns from taking a test, usually based on the number of correct answers.

Key Concepts (Tan/Michel, ETS, 2011.)  Percent Score – The percentage of questions the test taker got correct based on the number of questions on the test.

Key Concepts (Tan/Michel, ETS, 2011.)  Scaled Score - Scores that have been mathematically transformed from one set of numbers (i.e., the raw score) to another set of numbers in order to make them comparable in some way — for example, across different editions, or “forms,” of the same test

Raw vs. Scaled Scores Form A more difficult than Form B.

INDEX 4 – POSTSECONDARY READINESS 2014-2015 State Accountability System

Index 4 Construction  All Campuses and LEAs STAAR FINAL Level II Standard Two or More Tests If student only takes one test, must meet FINAL Level II on that test Enrolled Snapshot, Leaves, Tests = Accountability for Campus Enrolled Snapshot, Leaves, Tests elsewhere = No Accountability for Campus Elementary and Middle Schools/others without Graduation Rate Only Measure Higher than Met Standard

Student Groups  STAAR Postsecondary Readiness Standard —Student Groups Evaluated: Eight student groups are evaluated.  All students  Seven racial/ethnic groups: African American, American Indian, Asian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, White, and Two or More Races
