Attention Grabber Types 1.Anecdote – excerpt from a story that is related to the topic that grabs the attention of reader Starts at the climax (highest point of interest) in the middle of story Can be humorous, serious, shocking, funny 2.Statistic- Numbers or percentages of facts that are shocking or interesting for reader

4 Attention Grabber Types 3.Quote- Documented fact(s) that is funny, shocking, or interesting for the reader Could be a famous quote or one you find in a piece of literature 4. Question- Asks a question(s) related to the topic that is thought-provoking for the reader

5 Attention Grabber Types 5.Fact – Concrete fact(s) that is shocking, surprising, or of high interest that grabs attention of reader 6.Descriptive Sketch - Describe details of a scene, event, character of topic that grabs interest Details must relate to all or some of the 5 senses (see, touch, taste, smell, hear)
