7 The Easter Rising Timeline Began noon, April 24, 1916-the Irish claimed major building in Dublin, including their headquarters Tuesday was relatively calm Wednesday the rebels were outnumbered by the British 20:1, many building and civilians were hit Thursday, the new British commander-in-chief arrived. More people were shot, as the British were commanded to shut down the rebellion as quickly as possible On Friday, the Irish abandoned the Post Office. Sunday, the arrested Irish were marched across Dublin from prison to prison
