In order to ensure continuous service, providers, organizations and enterprises deploy a wireless line as a backup to landline; for example, in cases that fiber optic lines are aerial or when copper lines suffer of varied quality. The Airmux together with the DXC enable to automatically switch over from the landline to the wireless by activating an alternate E1 port when any active E1 link falls and goes offline.

Cellular operators use wireless point-to-point connections to backhaul traffic from the base stations to the centers such as base station controller since the topography of many cell towers (remote mountaintop locations, for example) make wire line connections impractical. In order to ensure quality of service many cellular providers will require a licensed band (such as 3.5GHZ), mainly in populated areas. In rural areas unlicensed band might also be used for backhauling. Requirements in this market segment are connecting of FE1 up to n*E1 links. DXC and ACE product are complementary products aggregating traffic in the central sites.
