7 Course Description  An introduction to accounting theory and practice  Two-semester series (BUSAD 1b next)  Presents procedures used in preparing financial statements  Designed to prepare transfer students for Intermediate Accounting or other upper division business/computer courses at a four-year institution

8 Course Goals & Objectives To prepare Business Administration majors for Intermediate Accounting and other upper division business courses. To introduce the student to the broad concepts of accounting including procedures of recording, summarizing and analyzing business transactions. To give the student practice in the construction of financial statements and in the procedures leading to the construction of such statements.

9 Course Goals & Objectives To develop the following skills: Technical and analytical Communication Interpersonal Personal/self To be able to identify and make sound ethical decisions in financial reporting and the business environment.

10 Means of Achieving 72 Hours On-Line plus homework Each topic reinforced by a presentation Students will be given reading assignments, practical problems, quizzes, practice sets, team/group assignments, and outside assignments, such as: Reading the newspaper, magazines, etc.… Internet Assignments, team projects, chat rooms, discussion forums, and so on!
