How to play… Piano Drums Guitar Bass & Sing

The notes on a piano go up in steps alphabetically from LEFT to RIGHT.

The most common way to play chords on piano is the TRIAD, (3 notes). Root3rd5thRoot3rd5th Major chords: – miss 3 semitones – miss 2 semitones Root 3rd 5th Minor chords: – miss 2 semitones – miss 3 semitones Root 3rd 5th The difference between Major and Minor is the 3 rd.

This is a FLAT sign: Lower the note by one semitone On a piano that is one step to the Left. This is a SHARP sign: Raise the note by one semitone On a piano that is one step to the Right. This is a NATURAL sign: Keep the note white.

Playing the drums takes a lot of co-ordination, counting and practice. This means continue with the same. Example rhythm 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +

Tune the ‘open’ strings of the Guitar from lowest to highest: E very A ngry D og G rowls B efore E ating Left Hand: Hold down the string on the fretboard. Right Hand: Pluck the string over the sound hole (acoustic) or pick ups (electric). (The notes go up in semitone steps as you move up the fret board)

Tablature is a type of notation used by Guitarists and Bassists. EBGDAEEBGDAE The horizontal lines represent the strings (6 strings on Guitar, 4 strings on Bass). The numbers represent the fret to be played (1 is nearest the head). 1 3 4 89 0 + 0 means play the open string 1 0
