Liturgical Year Advent- Nov. 30 th to Dec. 24 th Christmas-Dec. 24 th to The Epiphany or until the Sunday after Jan. 6 th Ordinary Time- After the Epiphany to Ash Wednesday Lent-Ash Wednesday & it last 40 days – Some include Good Friday & Holy Saturday Triduum-Good Friday, Holy Saturday, & Easter Sunday Easter- Includes the ascension of Jesus into Heaven Ordinary Time- After Easter to Advent

Liturgical Year Advent- Nov. 30 th to Dec. 24 th – Begins closest to Nov. 30 th – The beginning of our church’s new year – This is when we celebrate that Jesus is coming We celebrate by spending time with family Praying for salvation – A time where we are preparing for our savior – Represents God’s eternity

Liturgical Year Christmas-Dec. 24 th to The Epiphany or until the Sunday after Jan. 6 th – The beginning celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ our savior – Feast of the Nativity – Celebrate that Jesus was born w/out Original Sin – White or Gold are the colors represented – Epiphany= Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God the Son as a human being in Jesus Christ Revelations of Christ to man

Liturgical Year Ordinary Time- After the Epiphany to Ash Wednesday – Weeks are numbered – Falls outside of the Major seasons – The period in which we live our lives neither feasting or in severe penance – Part of the year in which Christ, the Lamb of God, walks among us & transforms our lives

Liturgical Year Lent-Ash Wednesday & it last 40 days – Some include Good Friday & Holy Saturday – 2015=Starts February 18 th (Next Wed.) – Renewing baptismal commitments we have made – Repentant season of prayer, fasting/abstinence, & almsgiving

Liturgical Year Triduum-Good Friday, Holy Saturday, & Easter Sunday – Three-day period of prayer – Recall the three days that Christ spent in the tomb- Good Friday to Easter Sunday – Final three days of Lent & Holy Week – Also known as the Paschal Triduum – Starts w/Mass of the Lord’s Supper on the evening of Holy Thursday & continues to until Easter Vigil starts on Holy Saturday evening

Liturgical Year Easter- Includes the ascension of Jesus into Heaven – End of 40 days of almsgiving, fasting, & prayer – Greatest feast in Christian/Catholic calendar – Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead – New life began-“Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.” – First Communion is done w/in the Easter season- Shows our faith in the Kingdom of God – Ends w/Pentecost-Coming of the Holy Spirit on early followers of Jesus Church’s birthday

Liturgical Year Ordinary Time- After Easter to Advent – This is similar to the Ordinary time that takes place before the Lenten season begins – The time where we focus on various aspects of faith – A sign of life & growth
